You can hide by Element/Category/Filter but we often need to hide all similar objects in a view, not anyone.
Yes, you can make a filter. The thing is not to have lots of filters by type. It's a matter of avoiding a repeating useful task, having a direct command and even a shortcut.

I am currently engaged in a monumental project involving approximately 500 wall types. Frequently, there arises a need to conceal certain walls within the project. In order to enhance the functionality of the hide in view system, it would be highly beneficial to implement a feature that allows for hiding walls based on their types as well.

Hope this post will be received positivily, and hope it can help someone.

Click on a wall -> Right Click -> Select All Instances -> In View / In Entire Project.

Right Click Again -> Hide in View -> Elements

Or you could use filters if certain walls types are consistently hidden in specific view templates.

If the walls are modelled such that their Types are distinguished properly or there are parameters attached to it as identifiers, you can easily hide and unhide them with Dynamo.

And yes, of course you can use exclusion filters to do that. but it's already a small and easier move for other openBIM applications

@mhiserZFHXS

It is true you can do that. But as @jordicunillperea mentions: it's a lot more clicks.

Also, if you have a revit link file, and need to hide some of the "linked" walls (That is the case here) you are not able to do this:

Click on a wall -> Right Click -> Select All Instances -> In View / In Entire Project.

Right Click Again -> Hide in View -> Elements

Cause you cannot select all instances.

Bonus info also: This is something that i am doing for a big Engineering company, and are not allowed to change any settings whatsoever, like add view templates or change the existing once.

@jordicunillperea

Just as easy. Select all of the elements you want to isolate, go to the temporary hide/isolate tool, and isolate them. You can then "Apply hide/isolate to view" to make it permanent.

@mpWNS24

I agree it'd be nice to be able to "select all" in a link. That'd solve this problem. I'm also not saying this wouldn't be helpful. I see no reason why they couldn't add a "Hide in View -> Type" functionality.

I also hope that your firm as some sort of way to go about adding/modifying things like view templates within a project. I understand having a level of quality control to maintain some level of consistency, but it needs to be simple to request those who control that adapt to project needs.
