idea Centroid en Revit Ideas

Pretty plain and simple.

Centroid extraction of Revit elements (applicable to Generic models and such)

Asked for in forums (problems) since 2012..

Dynamo as a coding language is too buggy, it requires a perfect set of solids, it is rather impossible in most cases because sometimes these intersect a lot.

If AutoCAD can do it it is unbeliveable Revit can't. AutoCAD has too many steps in getting the results and doesn't include density (mass=volume).

GRAITEC offers this but their support is bad, and 700 euros per year only for centroid function just because Dynamo is a weird perfectionist... no thank you. Same goes with Inventor which is not even a part of AEC.

Think about this guysssss... think about it.

Thanks

I happen to need this functionality too, but I found two ways to get a centroid in the Revit API.

Autodesk.Revit.DB.Solid has a ComputeCentroid method.

Autodesk.Revit.DB.Analysis.PolyLoop has a Centroid property.

Hopefully one of these methods work for you. I will be trying them out myself shortly.
