idea Halftone Worksets en Revit Ideas

Because you can put multiple categories on a workset the only way to halftone all items on a workset is to check each box in the visibility graphics dialog to be halftoned. It would simply be more efficient if you could halftone an entire workset.

One reason you might do this is for coordination. Say you have a lighting layout with a lot of overhead routing, you may want to leave all routing on for coordination but halftone it. You may need to halftone a large number of categories to get the right look, whereas if you could just haltone the workset you could achieve this much faster.

Another problem this would solve is the ability to halftone some of a category but not all, supose you had a dozen families all under the same category type but only wanted to halftone a few of them, you would need to create a filter first (probably using a workset!!) to achieve this. Why not just add the haltone check box to the workset?

Transparent and/or halftone Worksets

It would be nice to have the option to make non-current worksets transparent, and/or halftone, and visible/invisible.

It's strange to be able to draw or copy something and it just disappears because you forgot to set the current workset.

Thanks

I do see "Gray Inactive Worksets"... i will try that to gray things out, it would be nice to have some more settings for worksets.

This must be an old post you linked to. I have the Ribbon in Revit, not a control bar.

I googled "Worksharing display modes" and it lead me down a bit of a rabbit trail.

Thanks Michael.

This would be a great spot to add transparency and halftone:

Also, it would be great if the "Worksharing Display" setting could be included in view templates.

By the way, I don't mean to be able to set up different workset colours for different views. That would be very confusing. I just would like to be able to turn this setting on/off automatically using view templates.

cheers,
-tomek

I agree with this idea for other reasons. Because you can put multiple categories on a workset the only way to halftone all items on a workset is to check each box in the visibility graphics dialog to be halftoned. It would simply be more efficient if you could halftone an entire workset.

You can filter a workset to make it halftoned...

Create a Filter, assign all categories....under Filter Rules your only selection is Workset and then equals "selected Workset".

Then in your view or view template assign that filter and make it halftoned.

A halftone checkbox for worksets would be nice. My issue is I have a architectural model set to underlay linked into my structural model. I need to have 1 workset in the arch. model not halftoned I tried setting a filter but revit only sees the worksets within my model, nothing from a linked model. I understand I would need to change from underlay to halftone and manually change line weights or pick that halftone check box that coming any day now...Any work around for this??

If you create worksets in your model named the same as the linked files worksets, you could then create a filter for the workset in your model and it should control the workset in the link as well. Of course that means you are relying on other users to make sure they use the correct workset and also don't rename or delete any.

I think this type of control, would make REVIT more versatile and easier to control graphically.
Greying out Landscaping (walls, Planter families, etc) would be very helpful for example.

You're able to do this by creating a filter. Go to Visibility Graphics, Filters, Click "Add". Once you do that, a dialog box will come up and you need to select"Edit/New". Once the attached page appears, create a new filter on the left side and name it. After creating the filter, select every category you want to be halftoned. Then change the right box that says "Function" to "Workset". The next box should say "Equals" and then in the last box, select box, select the workset you're trying to halftone.

Once that is done, click okay and make the filter halftoned.

Oh I know that, but why create a bunch of unnecessary filters? I would rather be able to halftone everything on a specific workset from the worksets tab. I don't really see any downside to it.

Adding to this request - it would be ideal when dealing with sub-phasing (ie: millwork vs appliances).

I am making zoning diagrams, and have just made a filter to halftone everything on my Interior Workset:

1) Create a new filter and name it accordingly. In my case, I named it Halftone Interior.

2) Apply all categories that would contain an interior element (walls, stairs, doors, etc.)

3) Apply the workset category within the filte rule, and have it equal to the workset name:

4) Check the box for halftone within your filter list:
