why autodesk doesn't improve 3d snapping system to allow:
copy, move
sketch or
without having to define a workplane everytime
using inference system like in formit or sketchup will be perfect, they use a snap options like:
perpendicular to...
parallel to...
and they are using a color for every type of snap
blue for z axis
red for x axis
green for y axis
pink for parallel or perpendicular.
all this system is adapted to snap on objects and workplanes thar are closest to the view angles.
these options will be really great for working on families modelisation

You have nailed the problem with laser precision! I'm very much used with the Autocad snapping system, very precise, very accurate. If Revit would have half of the Autocad snapping precision i would be the happiest person on Earth.

Creating parameters using offsets it's not always intuitive. Especially when having to use existing underlays and create parameters between existing fixed points. It's just ridiculous to measure a distance between existing topo points and then creating a parameter by typing weird values. Snapping those points precisely would help a lot.

added to this proposition... autodesk can also add the option of showing a virtual plane on the 3D view to the sections.. and why not snapping on this plane.

Work in 3D with revit is very frustrating. Sometimes is very hard to move, array or copy things using 3d view. Snaps do not works very well, sometimes works, sometimes does not detect elements. Could you work to improve this?

WTF Autodesk! For two years this Idea is asking to improve snaps and YOU do nothing? Improve snaps! Improve snaps! Is that the way you want to make Revit the main BIM software of all? In order to bring autocad users, you need to make Revit platform more intuitive. You can copy the way of working in 3d model of Autocad, you have my permision, after all, the copyrights is yours!

@rbarbosa8DQGJChill out a bit. Be more zen. I know 10-year old ideas that haven't been implemented yet. BIM software is not easy to implement. It's like playing with nukes. Fixing one problem may cause other 10 (bigger) problems. I've seen many CAD and BIM softwares. I'm still seeking to find a perfect one. For all softwares i've seen and used, Revit is still the most advanced and most multi-discipline integrated i've encountered. That's why i'm stubbornly (still) using it.

The (real) problem is that Autodesk doesn't understand specific workflows for specific disciplines. Autocad was so successful because it had(has) separate commands and editions for different specialties. Revit is kinda all-in-one shaorma and it's kinda difficult for the customer to find only the commands one really needs.
