There's an existing bug that prevents us from painting on most component families from within the project environment . I want to be able to paint on all component families from within the project without having to set up paint parameters etc.

Essential for interior design projects!

FYI: the suggested workaround in the article does not work (you cannot join or unjoin doors, furniture, casework, ...).

especially frustrating with things like doors (each side painted in different paint to match adjacent walls etc)

Just tried to paint a column and was surprised this doesn't work. Painting them in the family doesn't help because all of them are painted different based on the context.

We need to be able to apply finishes like paint and wall paper to more elements like doors, millwork and window frames.
