Multi Segment Grid need to Copy Monitor and should be added to the wishlist for Revit Fixes.

We utilize point clouds today on almost every project that involves work with existing buildings. Due to the accuracy that can be achieved with point clouds we are finding variances in column locations along the grids (Columns not on the grids).

Grids are really just imaginary markers that give a location. The assumed grid location in the field is the center of a column. Telling a contractor that the grid is 2" from the center of a column just causes confusion. We have found that adjusting the grid with multi segment grids in plan details works great, with one very big draw back. The grids can't be copy monitored.

With several different disciplines working in multiple Revit files the inability to copy monitor makes using Multi Segment grids a deal breaker in a million sq foot mega building.

Steve Stafford's Blog ~ Revit OpEd indicates a work around but after reading you'll see the difficulties encountered with his approach

Copy / Monitor for multi-segment grids

Multi-segment grids are not copy / monitorable, which doesn't particularly help when you're trying to keep grids locked throughout multiple models. As it stands now, any changes to multi-segment grids must be done in each model manually and, arguably worse, there's no way of telling if a grid has moved as there are no coordination warnings.

Revit multi segmented grid without copy/monitor features

For many Revit BIM MEP designers copy / monitor feature is needed for grids in large multiple floors project. Now in 2019 Revit release, Autodesk has not been addressed the problems. It is difficult to review plans and grid changes in Architectural model. It is time consuming task.
