Issue:

Two of the vortex cutting tool operations cause the entire program to run slow

-"wire slot"

-"clearance slot"

Notes:

These Vortex tools work at reasonable speed when applied onto other files, but the difference is that the project that I'm working on is much larger. The same file runs slow on other computers. When the 2 operations are not being used (un-checked), the project runs smoothly.

It also occassionally freezes and the CPU utilization can shoot up to 80% while this project is being run.

Hi Ryan,

copying an operation into another is not as easy as you think. In the actual project FeatureCAM has to calculate a complete new tool-path which is mostly calculated from the stock. If the stock is different and let´s say "more difficult" from the first project it will take a while, that is normal.

Have you tried to "use a curve as the stock boundary" for the vortex operations or maybe tried to use a calculated stock model?

Its also a good thing to not always simulate the whole project from the beginning, using the "use result as stating point" for 3D simulation.

My experience has shown that one of the three little thinks helps a lot.

Greetings
