new to Fusion and have been struggeling to create toolpaths for this trivet I'm trying to make. Trivet will have v-grooves cut in it spaced evenly and running in the X and Y directions. I plan to use a V router bit and my router will probably need 3-5 passes to cut it. I have tried multiple milling configurations but cant seem to come up with a toolpath that will run the length of the part then step to the next pass.

Use one sketch line vertically and one sketch line horizontally. Use that sketch line in a 2D Contour or a Trace operation with multiple depths. Once you have that one line programmed as you like put that operation into a linear pattern with the offset you want to get your desired final output.

Hi @jaw6667,

You can use a Trace (On the Passes tab be sure compensation is set to center and multiple depths) or use 2D Contour (On the Passes tab be sure compensation is set to OFF and multiple depths) and use Alt and select one edge like below.

you can make a tangend extensions.

Create a Linear Pattern.

Select the whole pattern and make a new pattern but now a circular pattern 90 deg and select the center of the part as rotation axis.

I’m not behind my laptop so I hope these steps help you.

@Marco.Takx is right, you can select the bottom of the texture (Using ALT key) and then create a trace toolpath for it. Once you generate two toolpaths one for horizontal and one for vertical line, you can then liner pattern these toolpaths.

Once done you can then use a 2D countour toolpath to profile it around your model with the same tool.

Please have a look at the attached modified project.
