topic Laser/plasma/Waterjet best practice in Fusion Manufacture

When cutting the different contours on a part, can you choose all the closed loops in one operation or should you create an operation for each closed profile?

Is this a matter of personal preference? I would think doing things individually would give more control for things like entry points. As I'm fairly inexperieced in this process, I'm not sure if that is a big concern though. I've attached a picture of a part that is 5" x 5" with some internal features.

Thanks,

Unless you need things to be different for the different contours, (such as feedrates, etch mode, leadin/leadout), put it all in the same operation.

I do 95% of my work in the same operation. I think that the next release will support selecting by faces to get all the loops in a face in the operation with one click.

Both Inventor and Fusion support machining multiple parts in the same setup, so you can arrange parts as you want to cut them from a sheet and create a program to cut the entire sheet. I've been doing that a lot. We are talking about functionality to automatically select all the profiles in all the parts.

You can select multiple entry points in the waterjet operation. With entry points, right now in the waterjet/laser/plasma cutting (WPLC) operation (likely will change) each profile will start at the point closest to one of the entry points. But we are trying to be more automatic, and aviod selecting entry points for each profile (remember we are cutting lots of parts from a sheet of material).
