topic HOW TO MAKE DUCT LENGNTH TEXT DIFFERENT THAN WHAT IS ACTUALLY SHOW. in Fabrication CADmep Forum

I need to make my full length ducts with tdc on each end to read 56", not 56.25" as is currently. Our shop coils are 60 3/8" long, so the face that the duct is drawing on the program at 56.25" is perfectly acceptable but I want it to read 56" long. Also is there is 5 joints all in a row, is there a way to show the text as 5-56"? Thanks.

I guess the other option is to make the duct work 56 inches and then make the gasket material 3/8 of an inch? I watch someone change the gasket once but I don't remember how to do it again

You definetly need to add Gasket allowance. Coils do vary so it is best to leave 56" as you know there are +/- Coil widths so you could veary from 56.25 to 55.75. See screen shot for gasket allowance

Thank, this really helps me. I changed the tdc from 1.875 to 2" which makes my duct tag as 56" not 56.25". Then I changed the gasket to .375 which allows for gasket and our coil sheet metal being longer than 60".

Your welcome, but I think 3/8" for gasket is to much. the Gasket is 1/8" thick and is only used once per joint connection.

to get your duct length to appear as a whole number it is driven by your dimension style that you use in your data base. change your primary units to decimal and precision to 0 and 56.25 duct will appear as 56.
