We have just upgraded to a new version of CAMduct.

When moving items in a manual nest the bounding box around the item is not present.

In our old version the bounding box prevented items overlapping.

Where can i find this setting please ?

We have set the default margin between nested parts to 10mm but this has no effect.

This setting also has no effect on the rip cut distance.

I can't make my nesting do what you are experiencing. As I move the part in the nest, there is a solid yellow line for the part and a dashed yellow line offset from it for the gap between the parts. I can't find a setting to turn this off.

Does CAMduct do this with any of the default installed databases? I wonder if it something that has come through from your old installation.

You could try looking in the map.ini file for a relevant setting. Make a copy of map.ini before you edit it so you can easily go back to a known state.

Hi what you are describing is what I am expecting to happen as in my old version you would get a solid line (the part) & a dotted line (the bounding Box) on this version I am getting a dotted red line (the part) but with no bounding line see below, all the setting are as per my old versionThis is my view of a part

Hi,

We run on Windows 10

Not sure what you mean by default Database.

We use PM2000 for profiling. Our organisation Designs in Solidworks, then we DXF export to PM2000, it is a better system for keeping nests available in our database, this was fine until our XP machines failed, so hence we have upgraded to CAMduct & now we have this nesting issue where the bounding box is missing or set incorrectly, this is happening on both new parts & legacy parts. Everything else is working as we expect it to, cheers.

Hi to you.

When you install CAMduct, you are asked to select the database(s) you wish to install. There are Imperial and Metric databases installed by default. When you start CAMduct you get a choice of database to use:

Try using either of these databases to create a new job and import your dxf's.

Did you migrate your PM2000 database or are you just trying to use it from its old location?

The database contains all of the information about materials, machine configuration etc. so it needs migrating.

There is a migration tool installed with CAMduct.

Hi,

We decided to start from scratch with the configuration as there were problems with the very old version we had.

We have a new database which we have configured with new materials & tool settings for our plasma cutter.

We can provide you with any of the MAP files from the new database.

I don’t recall making a decision to choose between imperial or metric during installation.

Our issue is the distance between the rip & the nest being too small & is not affected by the changing the default margin as suggested.

On opening a legacy nest we have a bounding box see nest1.png, this prevents the parts be nested to close together.

We seem to have lost this bounding box with the new configuration, we believe that this will also solve the rip cut problem.

I have also sent database config snap shots of metric config & default margin.

Hope you can help.

Hi Camduct1

I don't know why your dotted line bounding box on your nests aren't showing.

Regarding the nesting gaps, there is one other place the effects the nest spacing and that can be found in the setup of your tool. You may have a 'Nesting Margin' set and this will be the boss!

You can ask your Autodesk Partner that you bought CAMduct from to get support. You can also log a support request with Autodesk about your problem.
