topic Help with theory behind placing components in a assembly using iLogic in Inventor Programming - iLogic, Macros, AddIns & Apprentice

I have recently been tasked with creating an iLogic script and form to speed up the process of designing a ladder that has legs that attach itself to the tank. Adjusting the rungs is super easy but there has been an issue in figuring out how I should approach the legs.

I want to be able to place the legs at specific points and double check if it makes contact with a tank seam. If it does I want to have it move up or down so it doesn't.

Should I be approaching this still with iLogic or is this more of a inventor API problem.

Thanks for the help!
