can't render Fluid behind refraction object?

do this test...

create fluid smoke inside sphere or cylinder or any object, make this object transparent after assigning any shader you like, if you try to render it will work...

try to active from Raytrace tab " refraction", theorly if you make the refraction value as 1 it shouldn't give any refraction effect, but if you try to render, the fluid will be disppeared .................
why???????!!!!!!!!!!!

if you want to have transparency but no "refraction effect" you should change the index of refraction (IOR) in the settings of your shader but not lower the trace depth in the render settings.

ouch my bad sorry.

tonymail is right. autovolume should be enabled and i should have had a better look before. in the render stats of your fluid shape enable "visible in refractions (and reflections)". anyway refraction appearance should be controlled in the shader then. just wonder why you wrote it worked before changing the refractions to 1. btw. it also makes a difference if you use maya or mental ray shaders.
