Loading Family question?

Hi,
Sometimes when I try to load a family in the project I get this message (see the attachment).
Why? and what is the solution?

Thanks.

The category of the family being loaded need to match the command you are using. i.e if you start the "Door" command and then try to load a family that is defined to the "window" category you will get a message like this. In this case it looks like you were using the "Component" command and tried loading a "Door" family.

Above post answers your question.

Best way to load families into a project is to go to the "Insert" tab on the ribbon and use the "Load Family" button there. Before you do this, MAKE SURE no command is active (hit [esc] a couple time before you do this)

This allows you to load ANY family category in. So you wont see that message.

Hope this helps 🙂

I've long wished Revit was smart enough to just load it anyway on the assumption that if I tried to load it, its because I actually want it in my project.
