LAYOUT NOT INITIALIZED???

When
trying to publish thru the DWG Viewer in from Composer 2 I get plot errors & it says Layout Not Initialized. How could this be when I have already set up the Page Setup Manager? I have never had this problem before?
any help?

From the Help, under Publishing or Layout not initialized:

No errors: Only layout sheets that say "No errors" in the status field can
be published
through the Publish dialog box.

Layout not initialized: A layout tab that says "layout not initialized" was
not intended
for publication by the DWG author.

To publish other sheets in the list, remove any layouts that show a status
of "layout
not initialized." See Remove Sheets below.

To create a DWF from a layout that is not initialized,

1. Remove the sheet from the list.

2. Plot it to the DWF6 ePlot.pc3 format.

3. Add the resulting DWF sheet back to the sheet set within DWF Composer.
(See the
DWF Composer help for composing a drawing set or adding drawings.)

See the DWG Viewer ReadMe for more information.

May I ask how a DWG author can set a layout to status "layout not
initialized" if he don't want it publicated?

Layout not initialize is basically a sheet in AutoCAD that has not been
accessed when it's created. For example, when creating a new DWG, there is
the Model, Layout1 and Layout 2. If you draw in the model and in Layout 1,
but never access Layout 2, then Layout 2 is not initialized. Once you work
with Layout 2, it will be initialized. I don't know if you can convert a
sheet back to not initialized once it's been finalized. You may want to
post that question to the AutoCAD newsgroup.

We are having the same issue here.

The "remove the sheet" method works only if you have a sheet with no errors. How can I convert it (publish) to a DWF file if ALL the sheets have the "Layout not initialized" error?

It was mentioned that the Author made it so its not initialized - how can the drawing become initialized so the drawing can get published to a DWF file?

Make sure you have all layout tabs and the Model page Setup completed, in my limited experience, if you have a layout or Model Space that the Page Setup has not been completed, the error shows up.

ACAD 2006 has 2 layouts when you open a new drawing, I didn't realize this as we just switched to 2006, and I only worked on one layout thus I only set up the page on that one, then went to make a .dwf of this drawing the "Layout Not Initialized Error" showed up. I deleted the unused Layout and the Error disappeared. If you need to plot the layout just set up the page, then the error should go away.

Glad that worked for you, as I said I'm new to creating .dwf files so there may be something else to it but for now this seems to work for me, and apparently for you too.

How is it that i'm getting this error in the MODEL space? I can't imagine that never being "initialized". Especially since stuff exists in it.

Invoke the Page setup command for Model Space.

I know this is really old, but in case someone comes across it: If you are having issues with Model Space, try this: 1. Print --> Plot 2. Select a page setup 3. 'Apply to layout' button 4. Cancel (if desired) 5. Reload the sheetset. This method cleared the issue for me on AutoCAD Electrical 2014.

I just had the same issue. You have to make sure you have "Layout" selected in the "Include" button when you choose your sheets. It defaults to "Model". That was the reason I got the "Layout Not Initialized".
