How to remove the annoying "edges appearance"

Hello guys.

In 3ds max 2016 when I add or remove an edge (for example, using the Swift Loop), the edge comes up slowly and appearing in 4-5 seconds.

Screen:

Click-to-create the swift loop: http://prntscr.com/78w2k5

After 3-4 seconds: http://prntscr.com/78w2og (the edges appear finally!)

It's pretty annoying. This doesn't happen, for example, in 3ds max 2015 where the edges comes up instantly.

It this option removable?

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Could be a graphic driver issue. Have you tried to change driver to Nitrous Direct 3D 9.0 or Open GL?

I use nitrous direct 3d 11 for 3ds max 2015 i've no problems... conversely, on 3ds max 2016 that strange thing happens.

Does it happen even on your pc?

Just because you can use Nitrous Direct 3D 11 in Max2015, there's no guarantee that the same goes for Max2016. So please try to see what happens with another driver. That way we can see if this is a driver issue.

Using other drivers, the software becomes really heavy... the best is the default one even if it's that strange problem.

Does that happen even for you? in 3ds max 2016 i mean

I don't use 2016 yet. Did you test it with other drivers? If so, what happened with your edge problem?

Other drivers are ok about that question. But about the rest, it sucks so much 'cause the program gets slow and heavy

So it seems to be a driver issue for sure. Try updating your graphic card driver, and if that doesn't help, you may wait for the next driver version, and hope it's solved then. You could also try to install the previous driver version - sometimes that works better than the newest.

Hope it helps

But it's so strange...

Does anyone of you have 3ds max 2016 to tell me if that happens also to him?

I can confirm that I had this ghosting issue too.

Until I did this...

In the viewport, click the +

Configure Viewports...

Display Performance tab

Uncheck Improve Quality Progressively

See if that helps.

Kind regards,

I have exactly the same problem. If you follow peter.spence's solution it should solve the issue. I'm not sure why it happens though.

Woah, glad there is actual option - though for such unobvious one autodesk should be beaten in the balls with a hedgehog. And few more additional times for adding that in the first place.

It isn't a drive issue.

I've had this happen on machines at school, and 2 very different machines at home.

The edge loops take 4-5 seconds to fade in. It is indeed annoying!

This did not happen in 2015 version - same machines.
