2007.1 ZIp file contains leading slashes

The ZIP file for the 2007.1 release contains leading slashes on every path:

# unzip -t WireTapAPI-SW20071-1038.zip
Archive: WireTapAPI-SW20071-1038.zip
testing: /api/WireTapClientAPI.h OK
testing: /api/WireTapTypes.h OK
testing: /api/ifffsWTTypes.h OK
testing: /api/WIRETAP_VERSION OK
testing: /api/WIRETAP_VERSION_TYPE OK

That's kind of rude. Any chance the zip file could be re-baked (if it hasn't already been done)?

Yeah, that would not be reasonable at all. "Rude" is an appropriate word. 🙂

I tried it myself and had no issues. Could it be that the unzip tool you have adds a leading slash to relative paths when testing (with -t)?

Standard "unzip" under Linux says:

warning: stripped absolute path spec from /tools/python/wiretap_get_frames.py

(this is from the 2008 beta zip file BTW). And under Windows, if you just right click on the file and select "Unpack All" (or whatever the standard option you get with Windows without having any kind of third-party Zip software installed), it will fail, as it will prevent you from writing files in the root directory.

So there's definitely something wrong with the way the Wiretap SDK ZIP files are being put together.

Right ... I see what you mean now. It works though.
I'll have someone on the team look into this.

Thanks,

Hi J-F,

A fix whould be in for the next beta. So far, the issue does not seem to be very serious (we see the same warnings in house).

Thanks for pointing it out.

Dan

P.S. Those not involved in the 2008 beta program can still sign up. Respond to this thread if you'd like to be involved.

Hi Nicolas,

To enroll in the beta program, please send an email to our beta manager: jean-marc.pommier@autodesk.com and mention my name. That goes for anyone else on the board.

We're now in beta 2 of the 2008 release. We're not allowed to talk about it on this board other than to say that we have a few interesting goodies planned. There will be a couple more betas, so it's not too late.

Cheers,

Dan

Hello Dan,

I sent an email to Jean-Marc Pommier just after reading your post but I
never get any answer from him. Do I have to do something else to apply
for the wirteap 2008 beta program ?

Regards,
Nicolas COUSSEMACQ

Hi Nicolas,

There's a good reason ... his wife just had a baby! 🙂 Katriona Lord-Levins has taken over in the interim, and can quickly set you up. Please send an email request to her (and CC me).

Katriona.Lord-Levins@autodesk.com

Cheers,

Dan
