vred 2014 - light objects appearing in rendered frames

Hi all

i've been using Vred 2014 for about 2 weeks now.

and i feel a bit daft asking this, but the light "icon" meshes in my scene are appearing in my render as a physical object (e.g. a spot light cone icon, a direct light icon with 5 arrows .

if i hide them, they no longer light the scene, so what am i doing wrong here.

is there an option i'm missing?

hope you can help as i'm ready to render!

thanks

Mark

i think i solved it by turning off the visibility of the light transform node.
is this normal? or have i just found a workaround?

Hi msymons,

as far as I can see you did nothing wrong. In VRED as in other realtime visualisation packages there is a difference between a light that is enabled and that actually lights up your scene and only the help geometry that is used for convenience to better position the light in your scene.

If you go to Scene -> Light Editor you can enable or disable a selected light and under the visualisation tab show or hide its help geometry for... see attached image. Hope this helps
