Menu Buttons are smillly faces

I'm gonna kill myself because I know for a fact that I know this and I'm going to feel stupid when I get reminded.

I am reloading my menu file onto a new machine and all of my custom buttons are comming up smilly faces.

I'm pretty sure that it's got to do with proceedures but I can't remember what it is for the life of me, and my library seems like it's written in another language this morning.

Have you tried opening your menu file and making sure that the menu calls
for the correct BMP names?

Yes the menu files contain the correct BMPs I'm almost positive It's a procedural issue with the mns vs mnu file and which you load for what

Somehow they have become disassociated with the correct menu file. This is
one of those things that I have fixed, but forget how.

erase your .mns file and reload your menu.

Ahh man Thank you Jade!!!

You are the GREATEST!!!
I knew I was on the right trail but I kept removing the MNU file and reloading the MNS file. I had it backwards, But anyway now it works

Thanks again.

That will work as long as you didn't have any custom toolbars created and
partial menus loaded. The best way to fix this problem is to delete the
.MNC & .MNR files related to the menu in question. After deleting these
files, a simple relaunch of AutoCAD will cause the two deleted files to be
recompiled and all is well!

I used to have this problem when customizing on a diifernt computer until I realized that is caused by the fact that Autocad generates random numbers it assigns as icon names when you use the built in customization feature. It apparently looks for existing numbers, and then assigns a unique one. Problem is, it can't know & then look on a diff. machine, obviously, so it can & does end up sometimes assigning a number that, on a differnt hard drive, it will not find a matching icon to, and will then asiign the default smiley. I therefore give my custom icons meaningful, descriptive names & make sure the menu file looks those up.

Hi,

Another way is to re-load just 1 icon out of the
set by right clicking, then properties.

Restart CAD, and there we have, icons
galore.

Martin..
