Keeping text in custom linetypes same thickness

I have several custom linetypes with text that we use regularly but we've
recently changed our ctb files to incorporate some fairly thick pen weights
(0.039 on 24x36) and now the text doesn't come out legible. Is there a way
to set the text to always be a certain weight regardless of the weight of
the line?

Thanks in advance!

Kim

I answered my own question - use a true type font.
