hatch patterns - which file is loading

Hi Gurus,

I am attempting to add to the pat files in Autocad 2014, but I am having a difficult time figuring out which file to modify. A search in help indicates that the first pat file that it finds in the search path named acdb.pat or acdbiso.pat will be loaded.

As a test, I modified 2 of the names in the 2 files that I found on my system (ie I changes "ANGLE" to "BANGLE" in one file and "DANGLE" in the other) when I open up Autocad, I still have the "ANGLE" option and I don't have the others, which would indicate to me that I am not in the right file...

Can anyone give me clarity here?

Michael,

acdbiso.pat and acdb.pat, are from Revit (I think), from AutoCAD try

(finfile "acad.pat")

or

(findfile "acadiso.pat")

copy/paste to the commandline, the return path is the files to be loaded by AutoCAD

OK, that got me to the solution, thanks...

I'm suprised that you can't load partial .pat files, it seems to be lacking...

The easiest way is to make a backup of acad.pat and acadiso.pat, open your custom hatch file, copy and paste it at the bottom of your acad/acadiso.pat file, leaving an empty line at the end...
