Fields Versus Remote Text

Is there anything with remote text that you cant do in fields? In other words which one is better. I am more familiar with fields & i have never used remote text. Is there any reason for me to learn it or should i stick with fields?

Going from memory here but I think Rtext has/had the option to list attached xrefs.  That is about all I can recall.  I'd use Fields since Rtext is dependent on a specific ARX being loaded that everyone may or may not have.
