DXF Documentation

Where can i find documentation about DXF format.
I'm searching the book Mastering Autocad 2000 Objects (new or used), but it
is out of print.
Thanks,
Giampiero Dattilo

In the help menu not is specified many things, e.g:
1) what section are indispensable?
2) what is a Dictionary, a Reactor, a Class?
3) why for each block there is a block_record? what is a relation about this
things?

dont know what you mean, depending on your object there would be a logical
minimum of information you'd need to provide if you were creating one, like
for a line, startpoint and endpoint, a circle, center and radius etc, any
elements not specified will take on default properties like current layer,
linetype etc, unless you want to specify them as well, is that what you're
talking about?

nothing in the help really? I entered "Dictionary" in the search field of
the help (developer help) and instantly got 148 topics.
class yielded 163 topics
reactor 143

well, that's what a block is, a record of objects which, when combined, make
up a grouping which you can deal with as a unit, and which can have a name
and other handy properties, and of which instances can be created (block
references) such that all instances will share the common properties listed
in the block record.

do you maybe have a more specific question you're trying to figure out?

I'm writing code for generating a DXF for Acad2000. It is simple to write a
"only entities" dxf for older version, but in the 2000 version there are
many parts and many relation which are not clear for me.
In the help file i have found a list of all the components of this file and
a list of codes for each component, but not a description of this and of the
relation between this. From the help topics, i don't understand these
things.
