Drive Permission problem

Hi all,

       In some of my programs,  i want to create a ".txt" or ".xls" files to write the values. But some drives not allow me to create any files like this. Is there any way to find the accessibility of the drive before creating the files.

Assuming the filename is valid, I would think the easiest way would be to test whether the open function successfully returns a file descriptor.
