5. TIP: SECRETS OF AUTOCAD'S HIDDEN DROPGEOM COMMAND
Samer Joudi, a GIS expert with Dubai Municipality, United Arab
Emirates, discovered more details related to Gary Williams' grip
tip from last week. He notes that the tip appears not to be a bug,
but an option of AutoCAD's hidden Dropgeom command:
Select any object, without invoking any command, to see the
object's grips.
Hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse (if you hold
, a small plus sign appears), then release the right button.
A shortcut menu appears with the following commands
Move Here: Moves the objects
Copy Here: Copies it
Paste as Block: Paste object as a block
Cancel: Option for last week's tip
The same menu exists in Windows by selecting a file or folder with
the right mouse button, then moving the mouse and releasing the
button.
Samer adds: "I tried also to simulate the feature of MicroStation
to move selected objects by simply dragging and dropping them with the left
mouse button, and the surprise was that this succeeded in
AutoCAD 2000. It is also possible to drop the object into another
application."
Don't know if this is any help or not
