Found this routine online and am hoping to modify it to my needs, just not sure how to proceed.
It exports the text out of the dims into an excel file, the issue I have is that it automatically opens a new book every time you run the lisp with the original workbook open.
I am trying to get it to automatically insert the next set of numbers on the row below the first pull. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joe,
The question is
Do you want to store dim values in the newly created Excel file or
add them all into existig file on particular speadsheet?
Explain details then I can help if I could be able to do it
Also what is your Excel version btw?
Well, rry from this attachment
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/18024145/XLEXPORTTOTEXT.zip
load library then then XLEXPDIM.lsp
New excel sheet. We are trying to simplify our fab system so that we can export over all lengths of material and any holes that need to be punched to our tigerstop systems.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
I loaded the library then XLEXPDIM after executing the XDIM command and specifing Sheet1 it locked up my autocad. I know I didnt provide some important information i.e. i am running AutoCAD Mech 2010 with excel 2010.
Try attached code to write to newly created workbook,
maybe it will work on your end, all tested on A2010
and Excel 2007 (student release)
Sorry,
I didnt load the lib first...seems to work really well.
I know i am pushing the "help" envolope but is there any way to make it use the column to the right of the first pull of numbers? i.e. If i run it once it put that set of numbers in column A and if i pull a second time it adds those numbers to column B.
Thanks for a everything you have done!
Please, upload Excel file in 2007 format to see what you exactly need,
just a few rows for imagination only
Hallex,
07 and 2010 should both be in .xlsx format but i have dropped it down to a .xls file just to make sure its what you need. The list of number is pure fiction just typed them in real fast but you should be able to get the jest of what i am shooting for at this time.
Thanks.
Hi Joe
Try revisited code, this is just slightly tested,
so let me knof how it will do the work
Works fantastic! The only minor issue i see is that is places the numbers in decending order, largest to smallest. If that could be fixed in the routine it will be perfect, if not no biggie we can do it via excel.
Thanks a ton for all your effort!!!
Joe
Hi Joe,
Again show me file or picture coz I could not understand this good enough
Do you want to sort all the data by row or by column?
Hallex,
The way you have it going horizontal across the screen is perfect (by rows). The example excel I sent you shows the largest to lowest numbers left to right. We discovered this morning that we need to list the smallest number first ascending to the largest. Smallest far left, largest far right. Opposite of what I showed in my example. Just need to reverse the order of placement in excel.
I do apologize for any confusion I am causing.
Well I added sort by row in there
see how it works
Very glad if that helps to do your job
Happy coding
