Desktop Shortcut Uses UNC Path and Not Drive Letter

We've just upgraded to Windows 7 machines from XP. Unfortunately I'm getting problems with desktop shortcuts not working correctly.

Under the 'Start in' section of the Properties box I use a network location with a mapped drive letter, for example:

G:\Projects\M1000\CAD

Under XP this worked fine. Now with Windows 7 the application opens, however it goes to the UNC path location as below:

\\\Data\Projects\M1000\CAD

Has anybody else enountered this and if so how could you tell me how you solved it.

Many thanks,

Steve.
