Consolidate Layers by layer and object colors

I've tried my own adaptations of code from the Groups and have had no success. I'm trying to select and merge layers of identical color into a new, single layer for each color. For example, if I have 200 layers in a drawing that use 30 unique colors among them, my new lisp/script will result in 30 new layers....all old layers purged. My new layers will be autonamed based on color number. Any help?

Hi,

Have you tried the Drawing Cleanup Utility for AutoCAD from the labs site.
http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/drawingcleanup/

This might help you.

Cheers,
