Can't snap to block geometry

Using AutoCAD with ADT 3.3:
On several of our office standard blocks, I am unable to snap to any
endpoints, midpoints, etc. of lines within those blocks. I can only snap to
the insertion point. Is there a variable or setting that controls this, or
is there a problem with the block that needs to be fixed. I've tried the
Options/Selections/Enable grips within blocks, but that still does not allow
me to snap other lines to geometry within that block.
Any help would be appreciated; thanks.

GRIPBLOCK

Controls the assignment of grips in blocks.

0 Assigns a grip only to the insertion point of the block
1 Assigns grips to objects within the block

I don't need the grips, I had tried the gripblock (or options/ selection/
enable grips within blocks), but it still does not allow me to snap to
geometry within that block. I can not snap to any endpoints, midpoints,
centerpoints, etc. at all. If I use an osnap override, it will not
recognize anything except insertion point.

This might help....

Goto options and look under the AEC Editor Tab. Make sure Optimize for
Speed is UNchecked.
"Under Object Snap, select Optimize for Speed to limit certain display
representations to respond only to the Node and Insert object snaps.
This setting affects stair, railing, space boundary, multi-view
block, masking block, slice, and clip volume result
(building section) objects. "

sorry.

This happened in our office too. Our CAD managerhad changed the WHIPARC variable to 1 in our setvars.lsp that loads when starting ACAD. He changed it back to 0, had us restart CAD and that fixed the problem. I'm not sure if that's what's happening to you but, it's worth a try.

In "Drafting Settings"

check  "Apparent intersection"  and  "Intersection"
