Evaluating a field to a string

Is it possible to take a field string, ie

yy = "%<\AcObjProp.16.2 Object(%<\_ObjId " & BlockRef.ObjectID &
">%).Parameter(33).UpdatedDistance \f " & inch & "%lu2%zs8" & inch & ">%"

and have it evaluated to a text string. In this case this is a distance
parameter for a dynamic block that I use for a plan label call out. I
would like to use the distance in my prompts for the user to accept ie
10 ft, but all I get is the straight text unevaluated. The field gets
properly inserted and displays the evaluated result.

Thanks
