Cannot run ANY VBA in ACADE.

The IT department replaced my PC with a newer and beefier PC. Unfortunately, it does not allow me to run anything related to VBA inside ACADE 2008, sp2. Attached is a Jpg of the sequence of events leading to a crash. It is to the point that I am losing work because of the crashes and the IT department has no idea how to fix it.

Any help is appreciated.

Is it that when you try to run a VBA macro, the
Windows installer starts and saying it is configuring MS Office? I used to see
this happens often when I was supporting Win2000: when a user log into the
machine the first time and try to run AutoCAD before running any MS Office
application. If any MS Office application (Word/Excel...) runs first, then run
AutoCAD and Acad VBA, this would not happen.

It seems first time configuration required by
Windows due to the change made by Acad installation cannot be
finished.

So, try to run Word/Excel first. Once Word/Excel
fully started, close it and then try Acad.

Or, have your IT make you as local admin and run
Acad once to allow any pending configuration to complete. Then make you back as
regulaer user (local power user or domain user, whatever).

My unscientific guess is you need the Journal Viewer Installed. I had a similar issue with this.

I have MS Office 2007 installed with MS Communicator instead of Journal. We are running XP SP2. My List of programs includes the Office 2007 Communicator MUI. Don't know if it is the same one though.

I am logged in with Administrator rights, have run both Excel and Word and executed VBA Macros in Excel. I have also performed repair and re-install of AutoCAD. Still no go.

Thanks.

It use to be that one had to be installed before
the other. Unfortunately, I can't remember but I think it's Office first and
then AutoCAD because if memory serves me Office stomps all over the AutoCAD VBA
install.

Perhaps someone else in the group has a better
memory about or can find a previous post. I know that I posted about this
situation several years ago.

I typically install all things Autodesk
last.

Well, tomorrow should be interesting. Corporate IT has decided that I should un-install ACADE2008 and install ACADE 2009. That may or may not fix it. We shall see and I will let you know.

I remember that too, but i didn't know that it still applied.

AutoCAD HAS to be installed AFTER Office used to be the general consensus. I've noticed with Excel VBA that having different versions of Office can mess things up VBA-wise, e.g. parts of Office 2002 and parts of Office XP.

I just made it a rule for myself to always
install Autodesk stuff last and haven't had any problems since.

It would appear that on my PC that AutoCAD insists that the MSO.DLL file has to be found in \Programs\Common\Microsoft shared\Office10 sub-directory. Naturally, MS Office 2007 puts it in \Programs\Common\Microsoft shared\Office12. Once I created \Programs\Common\Microsoft shared\Office10 and copied MSO.DLL to this sub-directory, my VBA in AutoCAD works.
