I would like to illustrate a serious problem in the Change State dialog combined with the several options a user has.
Please watch the following screen capture to see the issue.
http://youtu.be/R429m700vVM
In the video you see a simplified release process of an Inventor part and an Inventor drawing. The part is getting released first, the drawing afterwards.
Due to the nature of the Vault dialog boxes, which are user dependent, it's completly up to the user which options are selected (include children/ include parents, etc).
In the video (around 6:11) you'll see it's very easy in Vault to make mistakes. The user is changing the state of the drawing, without the option Include Children selected. Because of this he doesn't get notified the child document (Inventor part) referenced to the drawing is NOT the latest released file. (!!!). (In the video the option Include Children is shortly turned on to illustrate the difference in views and notifications).
I really hope you understand the problem and that you can see the importance of my question. A solution could be to perform the check always even if the 'Include Children' option is turned off. Of course the drawing needs to be updated, but as you can see a small mistake can result in incorrects outputs.
Regards,
Pim
