I think it is crazy that everytime the state is changed within vault, specifically from "Released" to WIP, I have to synchronize the properties. Why aren't the properties automatically syncing when the state is changed. They should be. Changing states should not be a two step process.
Fully agree, should be an action done by server. We do have 3 jobprocessors in the network just for updating the properties asap. If not, drawings show wrong state in titleblock and docs cannot be released.
I am curious, what steps did you do to have the job processors do the automatic updating?
I would like to see if that is something that can get implemented here.
I am glad to hear this. When I posted this idea, I was working in version 2012. So if you say this is no longer an issue, I guess this idea has already been implemented which is great news.
Thank you
Hi!
I bring this topic at the top of the list....
I have the same problem as Cadmanto with my Vault Pro 2018, I would like that the properties would be synchronized automatically (it mainly comes from the revision in my case).
My problem is that when we change the state of a part from "VALIDATED" to "WIP" (revision changes), we need to manually click on the button "synchronize properties" (either in Vault or in Inventor) before finalizing the drawing in Inventor.
Because before synchronizing properties, the revision in the iProperties is not updated when we change the 3D-model. We update our drawing, that shows the old revision. We check-in the files, and after that we synchronize properties with Vault and chage state to "VALIDATED".
When you modify several hundreds of drawings per day, it takes a lot of time (to my mind and in my company).
What I would like is, when I change state from "VALIDATED" to "WIP" is that Vault changes the state, change the revision (it already does it), and it synchronizes properties at the same time. So that as soon as the files are in "WIP" state", properties are synchronized, I can modify my 3D-model, and when I create my drawing the revision shown in title block will be the latest one.
ihayesjr, you wrote: "only one new version of the file is created at that time instead of 2. This will keep your storage size down"
I understand that you (Autodesk) wanted to avoid the storage size to grow, it is a good idea but I think it is a false problem because these unecessary versions would be cleaned when you purge the file.
Anyway, what I would like is to choose what I want: it would be great if, inside a transition I could choose "synchronize properties now just after changing the state" instead of "synchronize properties with the job server". In fact, the job server doesn't help me because it runs every 10 minutes (or eventually every minute if I change the jobprocessor.exe.config file), but when I change state I won't wait during 1 minute before opening my file in Inventor to make my modifications.
If everybody could choose what he wants, everybody would be happy 🙂
