We have an approval document that we attach to a drawing. That document only pertains to that one drawing. When using Copy Design on this drawing, however, it will keep the link to the approval document. This forces the user to go find the link and delete it. If they forget, it causes confusion. The same problem exists with properties, copy design does not offer an option to clear out properties when copying (as far as I know).
What we would like:
An option to strip attachments from files when copying a design.
An option to strip properties from files when copying a design.
When starting Vault Explorer (all flavours) 2013/2014/2015. the loading splash screen stays on top of everything while Vault loads. There is no way to hide it. This means you can't look at or do anything else in windows while you wait for the application to load. Where it is particularly frustrating, is when an error message pops up on loading and ends up hidden behind the splash screen. The only way you can continue, is to click on the message box in the task bar, and then use "Alt+Spacebar+M" and the arrow keys or mouse, to move the error dialog out from behind the splash screen.
I believe this is a regression. I'm sure that this behaviour was not present in earlier releases, but I could be wrong. More importantly, it is inconsistent with every other Autodesk product I have used. Usually, while the application is loading, you can click somewhere other than the splash screen, and it will hide it behind the active window.
With the new updated Thin(web) client using the magnifying glass I can easily see both the thumbnail preview and the DWF Visualization file. However this window is fixed in size and too small making it difficult to properly view the DWF file. I know I can right-click and "Open with DWF Application" but I shouldn't have to.
This window should be changed to that... .
I can resize the Window (and it remembers my size)
have this window open much larger
provide a maximize button that makes the window full screen
Please redesign the Job Processor so it doesn't open and close Inventor/AutoCAD for each and every job it performs, its highly inefficient and slow as a sloth. It should only open and close Inventor if it needs to change the project file. But I assume it just uses the Vault project file set in Vault Options.
Our IS department rolled out Microsoft Office 2013 this past week without saying a word to anyone. I understand that Vault Professional 2013 (our current version) and 2014 (the latest) does not support Office 2013. With more and more people using Vault, there needs to be Word and Excel integration updates and patches so that Vault customers can use the software to its full potential.
There is quite a bit of intellegence build into the "Copy Design" tool..... but, sometimes it is just too smart for itself. Here is a case in point.
Say, I open a large assembly in Copy Design and I go thru all the items that are going to change and mark them as "Copy" (could be many 10,20,100 parts). After this is done, I normally go and change the New File Name column to the new part number. Sometimes, these new part numbers already exists in the folder (unbeknowst to me... but Vault knows they exists). Rather than Vault warning me that they exists, it just decides to change the action to "Replace".
Now, the next problem is after it changes this to "Reuse" and I change it back to "Copy".... all the children under the assembly is now "Copy". The only way to fix that is to select each and every child. On a large assembly, it it just better to cancel the Copy Design and just start over and not aggravate my carpal tunnel any more... thus lost work.
I would like for Vault to notify me that the filename already exists, rather than making the decision to change the action that I have already set for the file.
As a company we want to have "Auto-Select First Duplicate" item checked as a default. Please make this a global Vault Item setting vs a client side setting. We have new users all the time and this setting seems to get overlooked a lot which in turn generates a bunch of random item numbers. It would be best to control it globally.
Being able to see a water mark is very useful (i.e. IN-WORK, RELEASED etc.). While not essential it none-the-less would play a practical role in ensureing someone doesn't misinterpret a WIP drawing for a released drawing.
