I have been working with a customer to investigate using a categorized folder as a container for managing design reviews. Overall it works great, but there is a clash with "as-designed" behavior.
Currently, even if you lifecycle the folder with a released state, and the document (that is linked in the folder) is modified after the review folder is in released state (so in effect after the design review happened), the paste link always shows the latest tip version of the document. That is it always updates, even if the folder is in a released state. This kind of makes a mockery of lifecycle-ing folders, if content is not locked down on released state; I would expect the link to show the link to the revision of the document at the time the folder was released, not the current tip version.
For the customer, it means they cannot use this method to provide an auditable trace that the design review took place, and what was reviewed.
In many customers they have legal requirements to provide auditable means of activities such as design reviews, safety assessments, etc that all relate to CAD geometry that they already have vaulted. I know that PLM360 is more suited to managing these kind of processes, but going back to an already staunch vault supporter and asking for more money to recommend another solution is counter productive. Especially when it is a customer who will not or cannot consider cloud solutions.
Would it be possible to either have an option "paste as fixed link", or simply lock down the link revision on release transition of the lifecycle of the folder?
