Enforce/lock Content-Center Language setting

Enforce/lock Content-Center Language setting

Hi

Implement an option in Vault setting to enforce/lock Content-Center Language for Vault project ; in the same way as it can be done with Inventor project file.

The goal is to avoid multi-language CC parts like that:

Multi-Lang_Content-Center.png

This situation can occurred when you work in a multinational team where folks use Inventor with localized GUI:

Content-Center is automatically switched to the same language and/or can be too easly changed.

PS: tihs option can also to hosted by *.ipj file

Thank you

Regards,

Aurelien

Hello

To develop  a little bit

As you can see on the screen-shot, there is at least 3 different nationalities in this team.

This doesn't mean necessarily that they work from 3 different countries.

This doesn't mean also that they work on 3 different projects

And that's the point, they work in fact on the same project/assembly.

As they use Inventor in their natural language, when they have placed part from the content center, parts came automatically in the same language.

As a consequences, the assembly has in reference at least 3 root folders for content center ; but this is well handled by Vault.

The real BIG issue pops up when you do a BOM/part list : Part's descriptions are in 3 different languages in this case !!!

This is absolutely not satisfying

I understand the wish of Autodesk to offer full localized GUI ; it's a great contort for users.

But the downside is this is not well adapted to international teams.

So any feature, setting, development which can help and ease the work of international teams is welcome !

in this cas, and as it's in the context of a Vault project, it sounds me relevant to add a setting option in order to fix/ground  Content-Center language.

Aurelien

That would be necessary only if you are using Vault Basic, in Vault Pro it's easy to set the folder security to prevent users from checking new language specific CC parts into vault.

However, it may be a good idea to lock the language settings for CC parts, especially for Vault Basic.

I really hope this request can be introduced into next release.
It it very cumbersome to track down and have users change released designs - because they used a different language version of the application.

Please consider to include a "lock" or Filter option - allowing only one or a few language selection.

The current situation is REALLY counter productive when trying to standardize design work as across a global organisation.

Thanks for posting this idea. This first needs to be addressed inside of Inventor before Vault could support it. Please post this on the Inventor Ideas board.
