Edit Item from ECO

Edit Item from ECO

Would love the ability to directly Edit an Item from the ECO menu.  Right now you can "Go To Item", or "Open " the Item.  Open only lets you view, but not edit, the item.  Go to Item takes you out to Item Master, where you can Edit,... but it takes a while to search the entire database for that one item.  It would be nice if you could select the Item on the ECO Records tab and have a context menu choice "Edit Item", which would take you right the the editing screen.  You could even limit it to edit only if the Item is in WIP.

Make sense?

This is already available in Vault 2014.

  1. Select the Change Order.
  2. Goto the Files tab
  3. Select the file that has an associated Item.
  4. In the Files tab, select the Associated Items tab.
  5. Right-click on the Item and select Edit.

Irvin,

This is great, didn't know about this option. However it still doesn't explain why I can't just edit the item from the records tab yet I can open it?

Thank for your input. You might want to check the Vault 2015 Beta: https://beta.autodesk.com/callout/?callid=0CEA9DDA3D144841A8DE3679943A440F This will give an idea how this might be implemented (when you open an Item you have the ability to use Edit command to start editing the item w/o navigating from the ECO context.)
