viewing vault files with viewer

how can my sales staff view marketing .idw files in vault without having vault? they all have inventor viewer but the vault tags files numerically instead of the file name. can i have the vault display the file name to make them easier to find?

The format of the file store (converting from a vault file path to how the data is stored on the disk at the server-side) is not something that the Autodesk team publishes. If you have access to a programming staff it's quite likely that they could easily code a custom piece of software that would suit your needs nicely using the Vault SDK. The code I am thinking about (off of the top of my head) would accept a Vault path ($/MyFiles/mypart.ipt) and download and view the file using Inventor viewer.
