Hi All,
We seem to have fallen pretty far down the rabbit hole on this one - I'll try to be concise.
Problem:
Approval dates in the title blocks of our Inventor drawings (Checked Date, Eng Appr Date, Mfg Appr Date, etc) are changing in a seemingly sporadic manner when the files are opened (sometimes on check out).
Observations:
-Since we upgraded Inventor/Vault from 2010 to 2013 (a little over a year ago), we have had this problem.
-Vault has multiple properties of different data types and states mapped to each approval date property within an Inventor DWG.
-The CAD admin has made various changes to the Vault property states/mapping over the past year. Essentially, for each approval date, he has disabled all but one of the Vault properties and made the mapping one way from Inventor.
-A seemingly default 12:00:00 AM time stamp has become associated with a lot of the approval dates and when this time stamp is present, the date typically goes back a day when the file is opened and/or checked out.
-Occasionally, we will see this time stamp +/- an hour which led us to believe that Daylight Savings might be an additional issue as well.
-Our server/client date & time are spot on.
-This issue is primarily seen in existing drawings (pre-upgrade and/or before property states/mappings were changed)
Example:
If you follow this workflow, simulating what the CAD admin may have done, then the date will go back a day:
Initial conditions:
Property 1:
Name: "Date Checked"
Type: Date
State: Enabled
Mapping: Bi-directional to "Date Checked" property in Inventor DWG(ßà)
Property 2:
Name: "Checked Date"
Type: Text
State: Enabled
Mapping: Bi-directional to "Date Checked" property in Inventor DWG(ßà)
The date should now be back a day – please let me know if you experience similar results.
Software:
Vault Collaboration 2013
Inventor Professional 2013
I want to know why this is happening, if daylight savings could be a factor, and what would be the best approach to resolve this issue for both new and existing drawings. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!
