Vault Pro Implementation - Some custom requirements

Hi,

We are in the process of upgrading from the standard vault that comes with Inventor to vault professional. There are some requirements we have which may seem a little out of the ordinary. Please could any other vault pro users comment on our custom requirements (i.e. Can they be achieved, what are the associated risks, are there any better methods, etc.)

Custom Requirement 1.

We manufacture automotive filters. The production department is only concerned with current approved products (ie. The production department does not need to know if a product is moved from an approved state to a work in progress state for product improvements. They only need access to the last approved drawing or currently approved drawing. If a product is in a work in progress state, the drawing must not show a watermark for the production department.)

If a product is moved to work in progress, the production department will continue to manufacture the product as it was in the approved state until the new revision is approved.

The production department will access vault via the web interface.

Currently we have a dwf publish folder which production accesses using the dwf viewer.

Thanks

Hello and thank you for posting your question to this forum. I believe what you're looking for is the ability to show only the released revisions of your files. If a file is moved from released to work in progress then only the latest released revision will show in the web client.

There is a setting for this on the web client called 'Show only released revisions'. It can be found in the Item and File Display Settings portion of the configuration page. By default the option is checked.

Let us know if this is helps.

Thanks Adam,

Sounds like we could achieve what we are after then. Just to clarify,

1.) The is moved to work in progress

2.) The web client will only show the last released revision (With no watermarking) - This is what the production department will see.

3.) The other vault users (Not web clients) will see the work in progress version (With a watermark stating that it is work in progress)

Is this correct?

Cheers

Hi Adam,

We have found your explanation to work, however, there is another problem which is created when using this work flow.

When using the basic search function, our search results show all previous released revisions of the file which is being searched for. This is a problem for us. We need the webviewer to show only the last released revision in the search results for our production department webviewer.

Please see more information in the link.
