In MS SQL Server their existing several system databases (master, model, msdb, tempdb). During a customer IT security scan of the Vault SQL server it reported back a security hole. For these system databases their exists a default SQL Guest account under their security settings. This account raises as a security risk by the scanners. The customer went and disabled this SQL Guest account for each of those system databases (as they have done for their other SQL servers), but this time for Vault, the Vault backups stopped working. Once this SQL Guest account was reenabled the Vault backups continued to work again.
My question is...does Autodesk Vault require this SQL Guest account to perform operations like the Vault backup and/or other operations?
We found some documentation from MS that indicates that this may be some sort of bug in SQL 2008 and not to disable it. But my customer wants to hear from Autodesk first on this issue!
Thank you!
John

John,
Vault doesn't require this account SQL does. Please have your IT department use the SQL Management Studio and perform a backup of all databases through the studio. You should have the same issue.
