Vault Office plug-in causing issues with excel

After installing the above to one of my colleagues pc, he has reliably informed me that it has caused issues with his excel spreadsheets, in particular the cells are loosing the cross referencing between sheets.
(He is an excel wizard, and takes excel to the limits)
Once un-installed all was fine again!
This is a serious issue for us.
Users beware!

Can you give us more information on this and possibly a sample excel file
that shows the problem?

Such as:
What version of Excel is he running?
Does he have all of the latest MS Office service packs and hotfixes?
What OS is he running?

This issue is replicable on any of our machines.
This morning I tried it 1st with the Vault office add in, completely removed, no problems.
Then installed it and the problem showed its self.

Open excel, on sheet 1 type anything in a cell, go to sheet 2, select any cell, then "+" or "=" go back to sheet one select the cell you typed in, then return.
What does the cell show, and where does it show it now?
What ever result it ISNT correct!

It seams to have a mind of its own, and is a page cross-reference error.

Precision WorkStation 380
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
2046MB RAM
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 64mb
Driver Version: 6.14.0010.7184
Space pilot
Inventor 10 sp2
Vault 4
MDT2006
Excel 2000 (9.0.2720) I have no service packs, because if I do (I don’t know why) the option to save attachment’s from Outlook gets lost!

Does this only happen when you're logged into a Vault?

No, to replicate this issue, the only requisite is that you have the Vault office plugin installed.

I am unable to reproduce this problem that you are seeing. I have been
discussing this issue with a couple of developers and they would like to
know if you have any other software applications that are installed on these
computers that have MS Office Add-Ins or integration? Also can you upload a
copy of an Excel file that shows the problem?

We only have AIS installed that has office integration. My colleague is running office 2000 sp3, on windows 2000 OS. I have no services packs at all, and the same results.
File attached, as requested. I just cross referenced cell A1 on sheet 2 with A1 of sheet 1.

As soon as the vault office addin is removed all is fine again.

Thanks for your assistance, in this matter.

Is anyone having this problem using Office 2003? It seems like both
posts I've seen have referenced Office 2000.

Thank you,
Jeff

Currently we are unable to reproduce your problem. On one of your computers
can you install the Office add-in then download and install the Vault
Service Pack 2 and see if the error still occurs?
If it does, you can remove the Office add-in and I will report back the
results to my development team.

Tried vault SP2, (thanks Teun Ham for the links) Sorry (for us) that it didnt fix this issue. I have attached the excel file for you to see.

If we have to upgrade our office package can you please let me know which versions (only due to costs) are certified, so not to replicate this issue.

Kindest regards,
thanks for all your help.

Not sure if this would make a blind bit of difference, but I have noticed that the icons in excel are different colours to the word icons, see att'd

Thanks for the last picture. I noticed that you have the Adobe Acrobat
Add-in installed that integrates with MS Office. I will try to find out if
this causes any problems.

Today i have seen the same Problem.
Office 2000 and Inventor 10 sp3A
Productstream 4.5

Office crashes when an excel file is opened that contains macros. When you set the macro security to low instead of medium then the number of crashes reduces. If you uninstall the office integration there are no errors.

Additional: When setting the macro security to low and open an xls with macros. Typing in these xls files is very slow.

regards,

John
