Vault Office License 2015 - Issue

Hi

Its seems that if a user logs into the Thin Client as write access, it checks a license out. This is fine but why does it check another license out when the user also logs into vault via say the word vault addin.

It should only use 1 Vault Office License.

This is not the way it should work and is very dissapointing if this is the case.

In terms of Vault Professional Client, a user can log into the client and word add in using only the 1 license.

Regards

Paul.

Do you have the Vault Professional Client and Vault Office installed on the same machine?

Hello Paul,

My understanding of the licensing is as below:

1. If the client machine has various applications installed, say Vault Professional Client, Office Add-in (installed together with VP Client), AutoCAD/Inventor/Revit add-ins.

Then if we log in to an ADMS from them with same user credentials, only 1 license (Vault Professional license) will be checked out in this case.

2. SImilarly if the server machine has ADMS, Thin Client, Office add-in (Vault Office Client) installed.

Then if we log in from TC and Office addin in this machine with same user credentials, only 1 Vault Office license will be checked out.

3. However, using same user credentials to log into ADMS from different machines (say Vault Professional Client in machine A, and Inventor add-in in machine B) will consume more than 1 license seat.

So it seems that to consume only 1 license, we need to ensure it is per same user credentials, per same machine login from, and per same license type to be consumed.

And back to your question, you may have Thin Client and Office Add-in (Vault Office client) in seperate machines, so when connecting to ADMS, more than 1 license being checked out should be as expected.

Thanks,

Zhang-Jiao
