Vault MFG 2010 Can not Assign Item to File

Hello,

     I have run into a problem I have never seen before in VM 2010.  I have attached pictures to illustrate.  I have an assembly file that I want to assign an Item to.  As you can see in the Uses Tab, this assembly uses components that already had Items assigned to them.  When I right click and assign an Item to the assembly file, you will notice that there are zero new Items being assigned.  If I continue the process, no Item gets assigned to the assembly file.  I am not sure why this is happening.  Can you please help?  Thank you very much.
