Vault issue checking out correct version

We just came accross an issue with Vault 2011, not sure if this has been addressed or not.  While checking out a file in Vault Explorer, you get a different result whether you check the file out from the upper pane, or if you check the file out from the preview pane (bottom area).  See attachement.  If we check out the file from the top pane the correct version (10) is what we get.  However by checking out the lower preview pane we do not get version 10, but the previous version (even though it does in fact say version 10).

This is an issue because we use the lower pane to check out drawings that have been attached to other files, and we need this to be the correct version.  Has this issue ever come up, and is there a solution to fix this?

Thanks

I imagine what you are seeing is not that you are getting a different version of the selected file but instead you are seeing different versions of the related files (parts and sub-assemblies).

In Vault Basic (what you appear to have from the screen shot) open from the main grid does a Get Latest. When done in other locations is gets the version that was selected and the children that were ascoicated at the time that version was created.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply,

I understand now the difference in checking in and out the drawings via the main (top) pane and any other pane.  However, why is it that the pane on the bottom, that shows the attachments is actually showing the latest version of the files, but you get the version of files at the time the drawing was checked in?

As an example we replaced components in an assembly.  If we check out the top pane, it gets the latest file which is fine, and what we want.  If we check out the bottom we get the files and versions as if it was created (like you stated).  However, the bottom pane shows the updated/latest files that were replaced.

Is this a known issue or bug?  It appears we are not getting what we see.
