Vault Compatability

I have found information on the web stating that old Inventor versions (i.e. 2011, 2012) can work with newer versions of Vault.

 

Does this work the other way? Can i use Inventor 2014 and other 2014 products with say Vault 2012?

The Vault server must be the same release or newer than the CAD application.
