I have been running vault on my local for the past 3 months successfully checking in/out with no issues. I have my Inventor files in vault backed up on a network drive done through windows explorer copy/paste. All this to say that I have been having non related issues with my PC which forces IT to have to reimage my machine. With that, I will lose vault on my machine the way it is currently configured.
Seeing up to a few months ago I had never worked with the ADMS before, I am asking if there is a pain free method for first backing up the vault and then restoring it back once IT is done with my PC? So the transition is relatively pain free and seamless?

you can go thorugh the ADMS console
open up console>tools>back and restore
you can back up locally or to a network share
i recommend backing up to a local drive first then copy to a network share
this is the only way to back up vault

Please ensure that user ‘W79DCQ4S1\AutodeskVault’ has full control over the folder “C:\Vault Working Folder\WBA Vault”.
Thanks, Jim
Jim,
Are you talking about admin rights within the ADMS? If so, I do.
Or are you talking about system rights.

you need to be able to change the windows security on this folder by right clicking>properties>security on C:\Vault Working Folder\WBA Vault

I don't have full control of that folder. While I was told I had admin rights, obvisouly these admin rights are restricted.
I will talk to IT to see what can be done.
Thank you for your help Darren.

IT was on my station last night and gave me full control (so they said) and it is still not allowing me to backup the vault. SHowing the same error message as above.
After doing some digging I found this and wondering what relavince it has.
What I find interesting is I cannot change this username or password. Errors on me, yet I have no idea what this password is. Does this have anything to do with this issue?

Not on my own. I am at the mercy of IT who is at the mercy of the big brother company settings.
Is the permissions or lack of the reason I cannot change the user/password in my last screen shot?

could be
but i wouldn't start messing with that password or username inside of the vault settings

Unfortunately, I never got this to work. I worked with the guy from IT and no matter how many of these folders were given full permissions, couldn't get this to back up. I think there is some behind the scenes restriction from big brother that is preventing this that neither him or I could see. Sadly, while I am at home today, my work machine is being reloaded and while that is good, I will have to resetup Vault. Yes, I did backup everything that was in the vault to my personal network drive. I will just have to go through the pain staking efforts of reseting up the vault. I would say under normal circumstances what has been suggested in this thread would have worked.
While this is not really a solution, it is what ended up happening.
Thank you all for your feedback.

Hi Darren.
The problem is how to save backup path in other network drive. All the post here not help much (for me) because im not expert IT guys.
Regards.
If I recall correctly, I would just map a network drive and in your backup operation use that network drive. In case you do not know, you can follow the directions from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026635/windows-map-a-network-drive on how to map a network drive. This is assuming you have full control on the network drive. Also, you would want to make sure you have good network speed since will slow down the backup operation.
