Vault Backup options

We are trying to figure out the best way to backup the database and files in our system. I understand Vault manager is the standard solution, but this creates a full backup of the entire environment which is very large in our case. It will double the size of the disk space required and then to back that up remotely will take (in our case) about 10 hours). Is there anyway to do an incremental backup to reduce the size? Our other option is to backup the database and the files separately (outside of Vault Manager), but I understand there could be a risk if the two are not synchronized.

Any recommendations?

IMHO, a backup is only as good as as the ease with which it can be restored
in the event of a catastrophe. The only supported method for doing backups
is via the ADMS-Console since it makes sure the database and filestore are
in sync. If you backup the databases and filestore independantly and they
end up out of sync, you may find it very difficult to get back to a working
system; which IMHO, defeats the whole purpose of having a backup in the
first place.

And I'm not sure if this helps in your case, but FYI, there is support for
doing live, incremental backups in the Vault-Collaboration and
Vault-Manufacturing products.
