Vault 2015 and Solidworks

Have been an Inventor house for many years, but due to client requests, I'm also using Solidworks. can anyone tell me if all the functionality of Vault Pro 2015, such as searching, revision control, lifecycles, BOM management, etc... also works with Solidworks files?

Hi There,

There is a similar level of support for SWX file in Vault when leveraging the SWX add-in.  Although not as deeply integrated as Inventor (Copy Design for example is not officially supported) you can do all the same basic file management tasks.

The add-in is available on subscription.

Do BOMs work in the item master?

Hi there,

Item and BOM capabilities are supported with SWX add-in - and note that the SWX integration is only available with Vault Professional

I can't find any Solidworks or SWX plug in in the app store. Is it still available? Thanks.

Hey there,

The integration is currently not up on the appstore or sub center.  We are making some major changes to the add-in and hope to relaunch this at the end of May.  We do have some advanced builds for testing and of course the older add-in is available if necessary, but I would suggest waiting for the newer build if you can.

hi @olearya

Now does Autodesk Vault Pro 2018 support copy design for Solidworks 2017 ?

@Aadithya01

No We do not support copy design in Vault Pro 2018. SolidWorks has a command called Save Copy As which is similar to Copy Design if I am not wrong.

Hi Senthil,

Yes I have seen this save copy as option in Solidworks ... So Solidworks users would have do a Save copy as of the existing design which creates new files with new names in the local drive and then they would have to delete the working copies and check in the files back into vault . Am I Right ?

Regards

Aadithya
