Vault 2014 Subscription Web (Thin) Client - Cannot open IAM in Design Review

Using the new subscription web (thin) client and I can preview an Inventor assembly (.iam) using the magnifying glass to bring up the window without issue.... pan, zoom, orbit... however if I right-click and select Open in DWF Application I get an error stating that Design Review does not support files of this type. We're seeing this on all of our systems.

The error is "Your current version of Design Review does not support files of this type"

If I attempt the same thing with the Vault Client I can view the DWF visualization in Design Review without problem.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Ryan,

Could you install the Autodesk Design Reviewer (desktop version) in the Vault server machine, to recognise file type of DWF/DWFx. This should help to address the reported case.

Thanks.

Do I need to installed the Design Review Browser add-on as well on the server or can that be de-selected?

Can you also confirm that the Design Review Browser add-on is only applicable for client machines that are not running IE?

Thanks,

Hi All,

i have just had this problem also when using Google Chrome.

ISSUE: when using vault thin client, select on the file to view the dwf and you get something like file type is not supported.

first, make sure you have the design review browser add on installed.

next make sure you are allowing pop ups from the add on or you will need to right click and run it every time.

if you still get the problem, go to google chrome settings, privacy, content settings, cookies and then manage exceptions (if you cant find this setting just search the settings for "cookies".

in the manage exceptions add a new exception with the following [*.]<SERVERNAME>, eg [*.]cadserver. then select allow

this did the trick for me

hope this helps

Did anyone ever solve this?

I'm faced with the same issue and can't find a solution.

- Vault Pro 2014 with Subscription Release and latest hotfixes installed.

- Internet Explorer 10

- Design Review 2013 (and its IE add-on) installed both on the client computer and server.

Tested with both DWF and DWFx.

Viewing a DWF in IE, within that small window (with Vault 2014) is just a pain. Opening that file in Design Review requires too many clics (IMHO) but would be an acceptable work-around, as long as it works!

Upgrading to 2015 is not an option at the moment.

If someone could help me here that would be great!
